Yes, it's time to start thinking about the next guitar to go on the bench. So here are my next three. Note: Acquisition of new tone woods might cause this list to change without prior notice. ![]() No.3 EIR, bearclaw sitka spruce (mild figure), flamed koa or ebony trim. ![]() No.4 Pomelle figured Sapele (Brad Goodman), heavy figured bearclaw, trimed in EIR. A 'Flashy' guitar, I guess. ![]() ![]() And last but not least, my 'ZootMan' guitar. Wild and crazy EIR, curly redwood top trimmed in ebony and with a flamed Gaboon ebony fingerboard. Yeah! ![]() That should keep me busy for a little while... Thanks for watching. Al |

Come up for air every once in a while, Al. I like the display of all the parts before beginning construction. Those should be some nice git-fiddles. Ron |

Nice looking components, Alain! Keep us posted on the progress. The Zooty stuff looks great! What sizes (models) are you building? How do you plan to organize the construction...sequential or parallel? I decided to do 3 also...they're all different sizes so I can keep them in their respective molds and work in parallel for the most part. I have a similar Sapele B&S set from the Zootman while the other 2 will be plain Mahogany and plain EIR. Tops are Adi, Sitka and Lutz. I figure to have a Thicknessing Month...Bracing Week...Bending Week, Box Closing Week, Neck Carving Month, etc. until they're finally done...hopefully this time next year. Good luck...you'll undoubtedly complete yours long before me. |

Great looking wood! Are you going to build three at time? My favorite is set no.2 for the "flashy" guitar, but they all look great. I think I have WES (wood envy syndrome). Tom |

Be careful, that's enough zoot exposure to trigger a crazy ritz. You could get your parts all mixed up! |

Thanks guys for your comments... I think I'll go just one at a time for now.... My next was to be just a plane EIR/sitka combo with no cutaway or anything too fancy. But I think I'm slowly changing my mind to having a florentine cutaway on there (my first) and I want to try a multiscale instruments to (fan fret)... I'm staying with my shape, but this one will be about 15.125 lower bout, a full inch narrower than the dread overall. I might just take some Wenge I have sawn up at Serge's and try to build a 'collapsable' guitar at the same time. Another first for me will be having/using my paint booth. My first two were finished with FP. From now on it should be catalized polyurethane for me... Tom, WES... ![]() ![]() |

Alain that sure is some sweet looking tonewood. I am looking forward to seeing your progress pictures! Glad to hear you've got a booth set-up. Does that mean that you will be sub'ing out your FP work to Serge now? |
